Ramakrishna Sarada Mission, Thakurnagar
This Weaving-cum-Tailoring Training centre started informally in 1980 in two rooms of a school in the village of Thakurnagar. In July 1983, the centre shifted to its own premises on a piece of land donated to the Mission by some well-wishers of the village and in September of the same year, was made a formal branch of the Mission. The object of the centre is to give an opportunity to girls to acquire some vocational training like weaving, knitting, printing, tailoring & embroidery and at the same time to earn so that gradually they become self-supporting. They are also given free tiffin daily. A small hostel building accommodates those trainees who come from distant villages.
The centre also conducts:
Free coaching classes for children from nursery to class ten. Children are given Tiffin, books, study material, and clothes free. Bal Mandir or Sunday school for children.
Religious and cultural classes for the village women in and outside the centre. A handicraft exhibition every year.
Charitable homeopathic dispensary for women and children twice a week. It often conducts free medical camp also. An eye section has also been started.
|Sunday Class||Scripture Class|
Observance of birthdays of religious teachers and some festivals. Religious and cultural classes for the village women in and outside the centre continued. Warm garments, blankets and clothes are distributed among women and children twice a year, at Durga Puja and in winter. In August 2003 a new building was constructed to house the centre's different sections of work.

If you want peace of mind, do not find fault with others. Rather learn to see your own faults. Make the whole world your own. No one is a stranger, my child; this is your own.
