Obituary

Pravrajika Tapaprana (Malati)

We are sorry to record the sudden passing away of Pravrajika Tapaprana (Malati), age 77, on the 15th July, 2019 at 5 a.m. at the Elite Mission Hospital, Thrissur due to cardiac arrest.

In early 2018, she was diagnosed with the Parkinson’s disease and was under treatment. In May 2019, she suffered two strokes and also chest infection. On 13th July she had severe breathing difficulty and was taken to the hospital and admitted in the ICU. Doctors found that she had a massive heart attack which followed a silent one earlier. They did not give any hope of recovery. On the 15th early morning her blood pressure started falling leading to a peaceful end.

A disciple of Swami Vireswarananda, she joined the Order at Thrissur in 1967. She was initiated into Brahmacharya in 1972 by Pravrajika Bharatiprana and received Sannyasa on 1.1.1978 from Pravrajika Mokshaprana. Except for the two years training at the headquarters between 1971-73 and her stay at the sub-centre at Calicut from 1996 to 2014, she served all along the Thrissur centre and was appointed Manager of the School in 2015.

Very austere, hard working and sincere, she served the Order to the best of her abilities. May her soul rest in eternal peace!
