We record with deep sorrow the sudden passing away of Pravrajika Shankaraprana (Parul), age 79, at the Arambagh SP Hospital on Wednesday, 9th January, 2019 at 5.45 a.m. due to intestinal obstruction with sepsis. She was admitted to the hospital just one day before. The end was peaceful.

A disciple of Pravrajika Bharatiprana, she joined the Order at the headquarters in 1966 where she remained till 1968. She was initiated into Brahmacharya in 1971 by Pravrajika Bharatiprana and was invested with Sannyasa in 1976 by Pravrajika Mokshaprana. At different times she served the Ramakrishna Sarada Mission centres at Nivedita School, the Ashrama at C.I.T., Thakurnagar, Shiksha Mandir and Sri Sarada Math, Chennai besides short intervals at the headquarters, where she last stayed for the long period of 24 years from 1993 to 2017. At the headquarters she regularly held classes for the devotees. However due to progressive severe osteoporosis she was transferred to Sri Sarada Math, Sihore where she remained till the end.

Simple, humble and motherly, she endeared herself to many by her loving concern. May her soul rest in eternal peace!
