News from Branch Centres

The newly constructed Vocational Training building at Sri Sarada Math, Almora was inaugurated.

The newly constructed Vocational Training building at Sri Sarada Math, Almora was inaugurated with due solemnity by Pravrajika Jnanadaprana, Asstt. Secretary of Sri Sarada Math and Ramakrishna Sarada Mission on 18.4.2018, Akshay Tritiya day. The building was named ‘Nivedita Bhavan’. A dedication plaque with the name engraved on it was unveiled at 11.00 a.m. Later there was Ramnam Sankirtan and Bhajans. Pravrajika Jnanadaprana spoke on Sister Nivedita in English which was afterwards translated into Hindi by Pravrajika Bhumaprana, President of Sri Sarada Math, Almora. About 80 people attended the function. Pravrajika Pradiptaprana, Secretary of Ramakrishna Sarada Mission Vivekananda Vidyabhavan and Pravrajika Prabhaprana, Secretary of Ramakrishna Sarada Mission, New Delhi were also present. In the evening, there was a cultural programme by the children of nearby villages.


News from Ramakrishna Sarada Mission, Dirang

The new library of the Ramakrishna Sarada Mission, Dirang was duly inaugurated on 30th April 2018 - Buddhapurnima day - by Pravrajika Amalaprana, General Secretary. Important dignitaries attended the function viz. the Deputy Commissioner, West Kameng Dist., the Additional Deputy Commissioner, Dirang and others. At present the library contains about 4000 books. Later, all proceeded to the auditorium where the annual function of the school was organized with a cultural programme and prize distribution.


On 2nd May there was Vidyarthi Homa for the students of Cl. IX and X. On 4th May new class rooms were inaugurated by the Chief Minister of Arunachal Pradesh who graciously promised to financially assist the Mission in its educational activities. Other dignitaries also offered to help the Mission.


The children of senior classes showed outstanding creativity in the display of native arts and crafts of Arunachal Pradesh.


Success stories of our students


28 students of the School at the Ramakrishna Sararad Mission, Khonsa appeared at the AISSE, 2018 (Class X). All passed in First Division with high marks, 5 students securing more than 90% and 20 students securing more than 80% marks.


171 students of Sri Sarada Girls Higher Secondary School, Thrissur appeared at the School Final Examination 2018 out of which 168 students passed (19 with full A+ grade and 15 with 9 A+ grade), while 176 students appeared at the Higher Secondary Examination 2018 out of which 169 passed, 5 students obtaining full A+ grade.


18 students of Bharathi Vidyalayam, a private school of Sri Sarada Math, Thrissur appeared for the class XII examination 2018. 16 students passed with high marks.

Pravrajika Prabuddhaprana left from New Delhi on 4th March for Germany and Switzerland. On 25th March, Ram Navami and Sister Nivedita’s initiation day, when Margaret Noble became Nivedita, the Vedanta Study Circle of Zurich organized a retreat where Prabuddhaprana had been invited to talk. She spoke on Sister Nivedita’s transformation to the Dedicated One. On 7th April she visited the branch centre of Vedanta Society at Muelheim, Germany and gave a talk in the evening on “Reminiscences of some extraordinary Swamis and Sannyasinis of the Ramakrishna Order”. She returned to the headquarters on 19th April.



Obituaries

Pravrajika Atmaprana

With deep sorrow we record the passing away of Pravrajika Atmaprana, age 96, on Sunday, the 13th May 2018 at 7.53 a.m. at the Ramakrishna Sarada Mission, New Delhi due to cardiac arrest. She was suffering from Alzheimer’s disease since 2010.


A disciple of Swami Shankarananda, she joined the Order at the Sister Nivedita Girls’ School in 1952. She was initiated into Brahmacharya in 1956 by Swami Shankarananda in the old shrine of Belur Math and was invested with Sannyasa by Pravrajika Bharatiprana in 1960. Appointed Assistant Secretary of Nivedita School from 1956, she served also as headmistress from 1968 to 1970 when she was appointed Secretary of the Ramakrishna Sarada Mission, New Delhi which office she held from 1970 to 1998. She was appointed a trustee of Sri Sarada Math and a member of the Governing Body of the Ramakrishna Sarada Mission from 1973. She was also the Editor of Samvit, the English journal of Sri Sarada Math from the beginning, i.e. 1980.


Her personality, kindness and warmth touched all who came to her. A prolific writer she did extensive research mainly on Sister Nivedita. She was the first biographer of Sister Nivedita in English for which she received a National Award. She also compiled the complete works of Sister Nivedita (published in 1967). Other titles are also to her credit. Very methodical, a perfectionist, she participated in almost all the functions of the Math, such as Swamiji’s birth centenary, Sister Nivedita’s birth centenary, the centenary celebration of Sister Nivedita School, etc. Along with Rev. Muktipranaji she visited Sri Lanka in 1968, where they had been invited to participate in Sister Nivedita’s birth centenary functions. Mention may be made of the heavy responsibility given to her in connection with the opening ceremony of Sri Sarada Math Temple in 1981. All along she served the Order devotedly in many capacities. May her soul rest in peace!


On 25th May there was special puja and bhandara for her at the headquarters and the Delhi centre and on the 27th, there was a memorial meeting at the centre.



Pravrajika Yogaprana

We record with deep sorrow the passing away of Pravrajika Yogaprana, age 86, at the Pune Math on Friday the 5th April, 2018 at 7.15 p.m. due to cardiac arrest.


A disciple of Swami Yatiswarananda, she joined the Order in 1964 at the Ramakrishna Sarada Mission Vivekananda Vidyabhavan. In 1969, she came to stay at the headquarters and was initiated into Brahmacharya in 1971 by Pravrajika Bharatiprana. In 1976, she was invested with Sannyasa by Pravrajika Mokshaprana. For 2 years she was transferred to Ramakrishna Sarada Mission Matribhavan till 1973, after which she again served in Vidyabhavan till November 1978 when she was sent to Pune. From 1st January 1979, she was appointed President of Sri Sarada Math, Pune, which through her efforts flourished to its present state.


Of strict principles, reserved and dignified, she was endowed with a keen eye which could detect at a glance the eagerness of an aspirant. She attracted all by her spiritual depth, simplicity and genuine feelings. She will remain an example of complete trust in and surrender to the Order. May her soul rest in eternal peace!


On the 17th April, 2018 there was special puja and bhandara for her at the headquarters and at the Pune Math.



If you want peace of mind, do not find fault with others. Rather learn to see your own faults. Make the whole world your own. No one is a stranger, my child; this is your own.
