Pravraika Dhruvaprana (Saraswathi)

With deep sorrow we record the passing away of Pravrajika Dhruvaprana (Saraswathi), age 85, on 18th March, 2017 at 9.30 a.m. at the Saroja Hospital in Thrissur. In spite of severe pain and breathlessness the previous night, the end was peaceful.

In 2011, she was detected with colorectal cancer and in May of the same year, underwent perineal resection.

A disciple of Swami Yatiswarananda, she joined the Order in 1964. In 1966, she was sent to Thrissur where she served as a teacher in the school. In 1968 she was initiated into Brahmacharya by Pravrajika Bharatiprana and in 1973 was invested with Sannyasa by Pravrajika Mokshaprana. In 1982, she was appointed Secretary of the Trivandrum centre and later, also looked after the then sub-centre in Calicut. In 1997, she was appointed trustee of Sri Sarada Math and member of the Governing Body of Ramakrishna Sarada Mission. In 2011, she was appointed Manager of the school at Thrissur, which responsibility she held till September 2015.

Soft spoken and loving, she was endowed with remarkable organizing skills and was loved and admired by her monastic sisters, her students, colleagues and devotees. Humble by nature, she was, however, strict without compromise in following the rules of the Order. She led an exemplary life silently and bravely bore the sufferings of the disease till the end. May her soul rest in eternal peace!

If you want peace of mind, do not find fault with others. Rather learn to see your own faults. Make the whole world your own. No one is a stranger, my child; this is your own.
