Revered Pravrajika Ajayapranaji, President of Sri Sarada Math Thrissur has been elected Vice President of Sri Sarada Math and Ramakrishna Sarada Mission.

‘Vivekananda Navaratri’

In connection with the ‘Vivekananda Navaratri’ organized by the Ramakrishna Math and Ramakrishna Mission at the house where Swamiji had stayed from 6th to 14th February, 1897, Pravrajika Amalaprana, General Secretary, Sri Sarada Math and Ramakrishna Sarada Mission was invited to give the benedictory address on the second day i.e. 7th February. She spoke on Swamiji’s message to us and how we should make his dream a reality. Hon’ble Justice B. Rajendra was the Chief Guest. About 300 devotees attended the programme.

The Sister Nivedita Girls’ Hostel at Salur has been inaugurated.

On 9th February, Pravrajika Amalaprana, General Secretary inaugurated the Sister Nivedita Girls’ Hostel at Salur, the rural project undertaken by Sri Sarada Math, Chennai, by lighting the lamp and boiling milk. There was Puja and Homa. There was also a performance by the children of Salur Bala Mandir, speeches and bhajans. In her benedictory address, Pravrajika Amalaprana spoke on Sister Nivedita’s life and her service to our Motherland. About 50 devotees from Chennai and 100 from the village attended the function. Nearly 800 people were served cooked Prasad.


‘Blossoms’- the Sister Nivedita Skill Development School for children

‘Blossoms’- the Sister Nivedita Skill Development School for children with neuro disorders, was duly inaugurated at Sri Sarada Math, Indore on 7.2.2017 at 10.30 a.m. by Revered Pravrajika Ajayapranaji, President of Sri Sarada Math, Thrissur. In the public meeting, Mataji gave a talk on ‘The Power to Face Life’s Struggles’. Dr. (Mrs.) Rachana Gupta, Pediatric Neurologist was the Chief Guest.


The newly built auditorium, dispensary and library for the students of Nivedita Vidyapeetha

   

The newly built auditorium, dispensary for regular medical camps and library for the students of Nivedita Vidyapeetha, the school run by Sri Sarada Math, Bangalore at Junjaramanahalli, was inaugurated on 20.2.2017 by Revered Pravrajika Ajayapranaji, President of Sri Sarada Math, Thrissur. About 400 people attended the function.

Swami Suhitanandaji Maharaj, visited the Vedanta Hall of Ramakrishna Sarada Vedanta Society of NSW

Swami Suhitanandaji Maharaj, General Secretary of Ramakrishna Math and Ramakrishna Mission visited the Vedanta Hall of Ramakrishna Sarada Vedanta Society of NSW on Sunday 4th December, 2016 where a few devotees had assembled to meet him. Maharaj kindly spoke on Holy Mother for about 45 minutes.


Pravrajika Prabuddhaprana was invited to give a lecture and class by the Vedanta Center of Greater Washington D.C.

Pravrajika Prabuddhaprana was invited to give a lecture and class by the Vedanta Center of Greater Washington D.C. in mid-November and to participate in a seminar-retreat of the Vedanta Study Circle at the University of Michigan at Ann Arbor. She returned to India by way of Germany in mid-December, where she visited the University at Heidelberg and the Ramakrishna Vedanta Centre at Mulheim.


Pravrajika Alokaprana left for Sydney

Pravrajika Alokaprana, Asstt. Secretary of Ramakrishna Sarada Mission Matribhavan left for Sydney on 23rd January and returned on 15th February. During her stay she spoke twice at the Vivekananda Hall of the Ramakrishna Sarada Vedanta Society of NSW.


Obituary

Pravraika Vimuktaprana

With deep sorrow we record the passing away of Pravrajika Vimuktaprana, age 81, on Friday, 16th December, 2016 at 10.10 a.m. at the Ramakrishna Mission Seva Pratishthan. She had been hospitalized on 7th December and put on ventilator on the 13th.

A diabetic patient of long standing, she was repeatedly victim of pneumonia during the last few years. In January 2016, she was diagnosed having Interstitial Lung Disease (ILD) or idiopathic pulmonary fibrosis. Despite several courses of steroid and antibiotics, gradually her condition worsened and she became totally dependent on oxygen therapy.

A disciple of Swami Virajananda, she joined the Math in 1959 at the Headquarters. She was initiated into Brahmacharya in 1964 and invested with Sannyasa in 1968 by Pravrajika Bharatiprana. From 1967 to 1977 she served at the Ramakrishna Sarada Mission Vivenananda Vidyabhavan mainly as librarian. Having acquired knowledge in construction, she supervised at different times, construction works at Sri Sarada Math centres at Hardwar, Varanasi, Bhubaneswar, and Ramakrishna Sarada Mission centres at Thakurnagar, Shillya, Gangarampore, Siriti and lastly Sri Sarada Math, Bangalore. However, her name will ever be associated with the construction of the temple at the Headquarters which she supervised under the guidance of Pravrajika Muktiprana, General Secretary from 1979 to 1992. In 1990, she was appointed trustee of Sri Sarada Math and member of the Governing Body of the Ramakishna Sarada Mission. She was also appointed Secretary of the Gangarampore centre from 1990 to 1992 and in 1998 she was appointed Secretary of the centre at Siriti.

Austere in her personal habits and straightforward, she drew love and respect from those who came to her by her dignified countenance and cordiality. Her practical sense, efficiency and boldness indeed inspired trust. Her sudden demise is a loss to the Order. May her soul rest in eternal peace!


Pravrajika Divyaprana

We record with deep sorrow the passing away of Pravrajika Divyaprana (Nilima), age 89, on Wednesday, 18th January at 10.30 a.m. at the Ramakrishna Sarada Mission Sister Nivedita School premises due to pneumatic septicemia which led to cardio respiratory failure. However the end was peaceful.

A heart patient of long standing with permanent pace maker, she later developed various ailments due to old age. Since a year and a half, her condition was gradually deteriorating.

A disciple of Swami Virajananda, she joined the Sister Nivedita School in 1950 as a dedicated worker. In December 1956, she was initiated into Brahmacharya by Swami Sankarananda in the old shrine of Belur Math and received Sannyas from Pravrajika Bharatiprana, the first President of Sri Sarada Math in 1960. She rendered service, heart and soul, in the Industrial Section of Nivedita School for nearly 45 years and all along went out of the way to help her students who hailed from the poorer section of the society. At different times, she also worked in our centres in Pune, Thrissur and Chennai.

Simple and affectionate, she will be remembered for her sympathetic and loving nature towards one and all. May her soul rest in eternal peace!


Pravrajika Dhruvaprana

With deep sorrow we announce the sudden passing away of Pravrajika Dhruvaprana, age 85, at the Saroja Hospital at Thissur, Kerala on Saturday, 18th March, 2017 at 9.30 a.m. following cardio-respiratory failure due to extreme weakness with fall of blood pressure. She had undergone surgery for colorectal cancer in 2011. In spite of constant medical supervision and care, the last few days were of extreme suffering. May she now rest in eternal peace!
